Tattoo Aftercare
Guide & Healing Tips
Everything you need to know about healing your tattoo properly, from traditional aftercare to second-skin healing methods like Saniderm or Dermshield.
Once you leave the studio, the healing process is in your hands. Proper aftercare plays a huge role in how your tattoo settles, heals, and ages over time.
Healing Essentials
-
UNSCENTED, pH-neutral, antibacterial soap. Other soaps may be too harsh and can irritate or dry out your skin.
-
Clean, single-use paper towels that won’t leave fibers behind.
-
Choose a balm, cream, or coconut oil - free from scents or dyes. Avoid petroleum jelly.
Things to Avoid While Healing
The following should be avoided while your tattoo is healing. These are temporary rules to help proper healing and will not apply once it’s fully healed.
Petroleum-based products, makeup or unsafe lotions
Over-cleaning or excessive use of aftercare products
Picking or scratching the tattoo
Dirt or touching your fresh tattoo
Tight clothing or bandages
Soaking the tattoo (e.g., in pools or baths)
Sun exposure
Touch-Ups
Touch-ups are usually free of charge and can be done within 6 months of your appointment.
Please note:
Free touch-ups do not apply if aftercare instructions were not followed properly
After 6 months, the tattoo will already have settled significantly, and fresh ink may heal differently, making touch-ups more noticeable compared to the original tattoo
Every tattoo and every skin heals differently, so minor touch-ups can occasionally be necessary and completely normal.
